Antique 1845 Pattern Field Officers sword. Clan Robertson Coat of Arms. For sale
The 1845 Pattern Field Officer’s Sword replaced the earlier pipe-back blade design with a more robust fullered blade, better suited for combat. It was widely used by British officers during the Victorian period and remained in service (with minor variations) until superseded by the 1897 pattern.
The 1845 Pattern Field Officer’s Sword with its brass scabbard is a desirable collectible item.
This sword was purchased by a member of the Robertson clan sometime between 1845-1865. The blade has been service sharpened indicating that the owner was serving in a conflict zone. The main conflicts during this period were the Crimean war and the Indian Mutiny.
This sword should appeal to Collectors, reenactors and museums alike.
